The third and final book in the Hamdoon comic series is out now, titled Hamdoon Tries. This release completes the first trilogy that began with Hamdoon Returns to London and Hamdoon and the Buried Treasure: a trio of illustrated stories that could have easily become the next season of the Hamdoon animated series.
For those who’ve been asking: no, we haven’t been able to continue the show. And honestly, we’ve lost hope in doing so, at least for now.
It’s not due to lack of effort. We’ve knocked on every door we could. We’ve met the people, pitched the ideas, waited for the calls. But in the world of animation production, it’s complicated.
Every potential funder wonders: why support an existing character when we can create one from scratch? Why invest in something that doesn't promise immediate returns? Why take the long road when shortcuts exist?
These are valid questions from a business perspective. The reality is that animation is expensive, slow, and often undervalued as an investment. For a project like Hamdoon, passion alone doesn’t pay the animators or keep the lights on in a studio. And over time, waiting becomes unsustainable.
So no, Hamdoon won’t return to the screen just yet.
But here’s the part that matters: stories don’t need permission to be told.
And as long as we can still tell stories, we will. That’s why we created this trilogy, not as a replacement for the show, but as a continuation of its heart.
These books bring Hamdoon back in a way we can afford today. They carry the same wonder, the same curiosity, and the same playful spirit. For us, Hamdoon is a symbol of perseverance, even when things don’t go as planned.
We may not have production studios or broadcasting deals right now. But we have pencils, words, and the will to keep going. And maybe one day, the doors will open again. Maybe one day, Hamdoon will move again, speak again, and return to the screen. But until then, he’ll live in these pages (and in the imaginations of those who read them).
The stories are now available, and imagination needs no budget.
Share them with those you feel Hamdoon belongs to.This may be the end of one trilogy, but perhaps the beginning of another...
